Inspired to a 5K PR & House Projects

I promised myself at least one day of sleeping in this weekend. 7:30 may not be "sleeping in" for most, but it has been the only day I've not woke up at 6am this past week. It wasn't nearly as hot this morning either. But I decided to allow myself a split run (a run cut into 2 separate runs).

I went to the canal following breakfast to bust out a 5K. Janae of Hungry Runner Girl inspired me to challenge myself to a PR, even if it was painful (read her post). My goal was to have the following splits: 9:00, 8:30, 8:00. That wasn't even close to what I ended up getting.

That's right, my time was BETTER than I was anticipating. If the temps this coming Saturday are similar to what I ran in today, I am bound to crank out a great time for the Nick Adenhart 5K.

After my trail run, I came home to catch my breath and chug some Gatorade just before I went for round 2 almost immediately. I really didn't want to run anymore after my PR, but 3.1 wasn't going to get me through my day. I ran an additional 3.9 miles to bring my day's total to 7, which is a typical Sunday distance. It was no PR, but I completed it and that's what matters. :o)

Anyway, for the rest of my day, I dedicated most of my time completing house projects. I was so proud of myself for completing this task yesterday...

Since it turned out so well, I ended up buying more tiles and doing up the entire counter space.

I also spent a great deal of time cleaning, but found a moment to get a strength workout in (even though I told myself it was okay to skip it).

Oh and to top off the day...

I signed up for my first marathon. I'm scared/excited/nervous. But I know I can do this. It's 9 months away, but it will be here before you know it!!!

Anyway, I'm exhausted and tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment. So it's time for me to head to bed! I hope you all had a great weekend!

Did you sleep in today?

Do you have any current projects that you are working on?

Have you ever completed a Rock 'n' Roll Marathon or 1/2? Coming to DC?

  1. Congrats on the PR! And, I'm pretty sure we have the EXACT SAME kitchen counter tops. haha (though yours are cleaner, more organized than mine, which are loaded with seltzer waters and bottled coffee).
