Happy New Year! Here's the Goals!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Though I am sad to see 2015 go, I am super amped about this year. I have 200 million things I want to accomplish over this year, but to keep it in line with what this blog is all about, I am going to share with you my health and fitness goals of 2016!!!

Run for pleasure, not because you're under pressure - Although I raced like a crazy person and somehow managed to run a 50 miler despite a long list of injuries, I do not want this year to be a repeat. I was burnt out. My body was breaking down and that was why my injuries were so prevalent. I lost a lot of desire to run for just the sake of it. Though I do have a couple of marathons on the list of this year, I want to basically limit it to that. I don't need to finish 10 races in a year to feel satisfaction. I can get that same satisfaction by running 3-5. I'd much rather run a few really good races than 10 really bad, injury ridden races.

Go on an independent running adventure - I want to run for hours...alone. Sure, I do this on my long running days, but I want to honestly make a day of it. I want to go to the Appalachian with a day's worth of food and run & hike for like 12 hours. It would be one of those meditative adventures where I want to simply be alone with nature.
Help Peter finish his first marathon (DONE!!! Read recap!) - My first race of the year is the Rock n Roll DC Marathon in March. This is a special race for me because it was my first marathon in 2014. It is going to be a great joy to run it with Peter as it will be his first marathon! This time, I am following his lead instead of my own. I have only ever run with my husband in one race: The Hershey 10K. This time, we add 20 miles to the equation! This is going to be epic!!!
Run the Niagara Falls Marathon - I didn't originally plan to do more than one marathon this year, but when this opportunity fell into my lap, I couldn't say no. I mean, who wouldn't want to run from one country to another in a marathon? I don't necessarily want to "race" this one, I just want to say I did it. I think it will be badass to say I ran from New York in Canada.
Eat healthier - Of course, this is a resolution I have every year, but I started a week early to prove my commitment. In fact, I am trying to take away all added sugar for a while. It has been a challenging experience, but if I can run 50 miles, I can give up sweets and the extra sugars no one needs. Besides, a healthy diet will bring me to my next goal...
ABS - I desire this accomplishment. My stomach has never been in shape enough to show good abs. That's mostly due to my diet. I don't care what it takes, I plan to have them before the end of the year.

Cross train more often - Since getting hella burnt out on running, I am realizing more and more the importance of cross training. That is why I have joined the Beachbody on Demand. For $2.99 a week, I have access to some of their greatest videos like P90X3.
Blog More - Because I have honestly sucked at it. You will see me fall off the earth for a few weeks then magically reappear. Again, I was burnt out. On running, blogging, everything. I got super lazy and barely wanted to get out of bed in the morning. However, I know that taking a more serious approach to my blog will open up more opportunities and I really want to meet more of you!

So there it is in a nutshell! Now, share with me your goals!!!
